Chocolate usually feels like something already finished: a bar, a wrapper, a flavor, a price. But the moment you hold a real cacao bean, the whole idea shifts. It's bitter, rough, aromatic, nothing like a sweet bar off a shelf.
That's exactly where our PAVLINACHOCO workshop begins, inside Paul and Alina’s family chocolate workshop in Saint Petersburg.
What does “from cacao bean to bar” mean?
This isn't a class where you only decorate ready-made chocolate. It's a small chocolate workshop where you see the whole journey: cacao beans, aroma, chocolate mass, tempering, molds, toppings and packaging.
In two and a half hours you won't become a professional chocolatier, but you'll get the main idea: chocolate isn't just a sweet. It's craft, raw material, temperature, texture, flavor and attention to detail.

What happens during the workshop
1. Cacao beans and the beginning
You meet real cacao beans, look at the raw material and learn why real chocolate doesn't begin with a wrapper. It matters, because after this chocolate stops being abstract.
2. Aroma and hot chocolate
It starts with a warm moment: a cup of natural hot chocolate. That sets the mood, calm, aromatic and unhurried.
3. Chocolate base
You see how the ingredients turn into chocolate mass, get the logic of bean-to-bar and understand why what's inside matters.
4. Tempering
Tempering is one of the most interesting parts. This is where chocolate turns from melted mass into a future bar with the right texture. If it doesn't work the first time, we help you by hand.
5. Molds, flavors and packaging
Each guest makes five bars: chooses toppings, builds a flavor and finally packs the chocolate into a gift box.
What you take home
- your own five handmade chocolate bars;
- gift box;
- named diploma;
- chocolate passport;
- photos and a personal story: “I made this myself.”

Who it is for
The workshop suits adults, couples, families and small groups. People often pick it as an unusual date, a gift, a birthday activity, a bachelorette idea or a calm weekend away from the shopping mall.
You don't need any cooking experience. We explain everything in plain words and stay with you through each step.
Why the small group matters
We keep the group small at PAVLINACHOCO, up to eight guests. That's not a marketing line, it's how the format works. When someone is working with chocolate, they need attention: a hint, a demo, a hand with a movement, an answer. In a big group that just isn't possible.
How this differs from typical chocolate classes
Many chocolate classes use ready-made mass: you decorate, sprinkle and take a result home. It can be pretty, but it doesn't really explain the process.
Here the focus is different: the journey from cacao bean to a box of chocolate. That changes how the result feels. Not “I decorated a bar,” but “I finally get how chocolate is born.”
